Real greatness that is based on true exaltation and hope of sizzling favor on into flipping over the end times and mega hopes that flash balls do not have

We Should be Seeking Honor

Rom 2:5-10 CAB But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who will recompense to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by the endurance of good works are seeking glory and honor and incorruption--eternal life. 8 But to those who are contentious, and who disobey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath, 9 ~ tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that works evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone that works good, both to the Jew first and to the Greek.

As we already said, We Should be Seeking Honor.

The Superiority of Youth When There is Truth

>> gideon' 'incompetant' son (when youth can get in the way of honor),

- put away the sins of youth

- see that you do not despise one of these little ones...

Psa_119:99-100 CAB I have more understanding than all my teachers; for Your testimonies are my meditation. 100 I understand more that the aged; because I have *sought out [* MT: kept (WEB)] Your commandments.

Ecc_12:1 CAB And remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of evil come, and the years overtake you [MT: the years draw near (WEB)] in which you shall say, I have no pleasure in them.

And this evil day comes upon most everyone, especially after departing from their youth, because nearly all are slain in the deceitfulness of sin (Heb_3:13; Ecc_4:13) which this life slowly kills us with.

See context of the following chapters (although these are the main pertaining verses)

[Note to Most Protestants: Wis = The Book of Wisdom a book which Protestantism eventually removed from the Bible (i.e. Wisdom is included in original OT Greek Bible, the LXX, and is referenced and quoted by the NT numerous times, just like the rest of the Greek LXX).]

Wis_4:8-11 Brenton For honourable age is not that which standeth in length of time, nor that is measured by number of years. 9 But wisdom is the gray hair unto men, and an unspotted life is old age. 10 He pleased God, and was beloved of him: so that living among sinners he was translated. 11 Yea speedily was he taken away, lest that wickedness should alter his understanding, or deceit beguile his soul.

Wis_4:13-14 Brenton He, being made perfect in a short time, fulfilled a long time: 14 For his soul pleased the Lord: therefore hasted he to take him away from among the wicked.

Wis_4:16 Brenton Thus the righteous that is dead shall condemn the ungodly which are living; and youth that is soon perfected the many years and old age of the unrighteous.

Wis_8:8-21 Brenton If a man desire much experience, she [Wisdom (personified)] knoweth things of old, and conjectureth aright what is to come: she knoweth the subtilties of speeches, and can expound dark sentences: she foreseeth signs and wonders, and the events of seasons and times. 9 Therefore I purposed to take her to me to live with me, knowing that she would be a counsellor of good things, and a comfort in cares and grief. 10 For her sake I shall have estimation among the multitude, and honour with the elders, though I be young. 11 I shall be found of a quick conceit in judgment, and shall be admired in the sight of great men. 12 When I hold my tongue, they shall bide my leisure [wait for me], and when I speak, they shall give good ear unto me: if I talk much, they shall lay their hands upon their mouth. 13 Moreover by the means of her I shall obtain immortality, and leave behind me an everlasting memorial to them that come after me. 14 I shall set the people in order, and the nations shall be subject unto me. 15 Horrible tyrants shall be afraid, when they do but hear of me; I shall be found good among the multitude, and valiant in war. 16 After I am come into mine house, I will repose myself with her: for her conversation hath no bitterness; and to live with her hath no sorrow, but mirth and joy. 17 Now when I considered these things in myself, and pondered them in my heart, how that to be allied unto wisdom is immortality; 18 And great pleasure it is to have her friendship; and in the works of her hands are infinite riches; and in the exercise of conference with her, prudence; and in talking with her, a good report; I went about seeking how to take her to me. 19 For I was a witty child, and had a good spirit. 20 Yea rather, being good, I came into a body undefiled. [?] 21 Nevertheless, when I perceived that I could not otherwise obtain her, except God gave her me; and that was a point of wisdom also to know whose gift she was; I prayed unto the Lord, and besought him, and with my whole heart

Wis_9:5-6 Brenton For I thy servant and son of thine handmaid am a feeble person, and of a short time [ὀλιγοχρόνιος], and too young for the understanding of judgment and laws. 6 For though a man be never so perfect [τέλειος Greek expression for full-grown/ fully grown up/ mature] among the children of men, yet if thy wisdom be not with him, he shall be nothing regarded.

Ecclesiastes 4 Poor Wise Youth Better than Old Foolish King

Ecc_4:13 WEB Better is a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king who doesn't know how to receive admonition any more.

Ecc_4:13 CAB Better is a poor and wise child than an old and foolish king, who knows not how to take heed [προσέχειν] any longer.

Solomons Fall

1Ki_11:1-4 CAB And King Solomon was *a lover of women [φιλογύναιος]. And he took [ἔλαβεν] strange women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh, Moabite and Ammonite women, Syrians and Edomites, Hittites and Amorites; 2 of the nations concerning whom the Lord forbade the children of Israel, saying, You shall not *go in to them [* εἰσελεύσεσθε εἰς αὐτούς], and they shall not *come in to you [εἰσελεύσονται εἰς ὑμᾶς], lest they turn away [ἐκκλίνωσιν] your hearts after their idols; *Solomon clung to these in love [εἰς αὐτοὺς ἐκολλήθη Σαλωμων τοῦ ἀγαπῆσαι (i.e. by ἔλαβεν in v.1, which is marriage?)]. 3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines. And the strange women turned away his heart after their gods. 4 And it came to pass in the time of Solomon's old age, that his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

This is definitely related to why Jesus says you have to become like a child to make it to heaven.

Commands for proclaimers of truth (even younger men) to exhort older men against such apostasy:

Tit_2:2; 1Ti_5:1, 1Ti_5:19-21, (1Ti_5:24-25)

[Note: This is a running list (we hope to keep updating it, especially throughout the next few years)]

One of These Little Ones is the Greatest

Mar_9:35-37 CAB And having sat down He called the twelve, and said to them, "If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." 36 And taking a child, He stood him in their midst. And taking him in His arms, He said to them, 37 whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me, but Him who sent Me."

Mat_18:1-6 CAB At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who then is the greater in the kingdom of heaven?" 2 Then Jesus called a little child, and set him in their midst, 3 and said, "Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever receives one such little child in My name, receives Me. 6 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him that a huge millstone be hanged on his neck, and he be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Mat_19:13-14 CAB Then little children were brought to Him, that He might put His hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, "Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

Note: the disciples did become children: Mat_11:25

The Path to Heaven

Hopefully we will remember Jesus' words and agree with them:

Mat_18:3-4 MKJV Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven. 4 Therefore whoever shall humble himself like this little child, this one is the greater in the kingdom of Heaven. (Also see Mar_10:15)

Notice that He did not say we would be great if we were as, a child, but said, humble himself like this little child which clearly does not include spoiled children in the perversion of modern societies today which are often undisciplined and indulgent and dont fear to disrespect those older than them.

Luk_10:21 WEB Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight." (Compare Mat_11:25)

Mar_10:14 MKJV Jesus said to them, Allow the little children to come to Me and do not hinder them. For of such is the kingdom of God.

Its kind of strange. Though we know that the renewal of godly youthfulness is supposed to be our goal:

Psa_103:5; Jer_2:2-3; Ezk_16:43; Hos_2:15; Rev_2:3-5

And we also know that the Bible repeatedly exhorts us not to despise youth:

1Sa_2:18, 1Sa_2:26; 1Sa_3:1, 1Sa_3:4, 1Sa_3:7, 1Sa_3:10-20; 1Sa_17:33-37, 1Sa_17:42-50; 2Ki_22:1; Jer_1:6-10; Dan_1:17 wisdom; Zac_4:10; Mat_18:10; Mat_21:16; 1Co_1:28; 1Ti_4:12; Joe_2:28/Act_2:17; Heb_11:23

yet we still do it anyway!

Though we all seem to know and quote so many passages about how we are to enter heaven like a child, we still habitually look down on youth as being a disgraceful quality, even if a young persons faith is greater than our own!

The Potential

Though most youth are observably fickle, we must choose to believe that it is possible to see them walk up-rightly from their youth:

1Sa_12:2; 1Ki_18:12; Psa_71:5, Psa_71:17

Exo_33:11 CAB And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as if one should speak to his friend; and he retired into the camp: but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

Oh that older and younger alike would learn to pray with the desperation of Joshua!

I had to correct this translation from the Greek LXX:

Psa_119:139-141 CAB Your [the] zeal [for your house (ὁ ζῆλος τοῦ οἴκου σου)] has quite wasted me; because my enemies have forgotten Your words. 140 Your word has been very fully tried; and Your servant loves it. 141 I am young and despised; yet I have not forgotten Your statutes.

> is this quoted in the fire bbs??? I think I need to update it there too!

(Compare Psa_69:9; Joh_2:17)

Its so easy to say, Boys will be boys, but it takes faith in Jesus to set your face for greater things, and realistically exhort the younger men to be sober-minded, (Tit_2:6 WEB). And train the young women 6 [and] exhort the young men (Tit_2:4, 6 MKJV)."

Put Away the Things of a Child

1Co_13:11-12 CAB When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child, I reasoned as a child; but when I became a man, I put away the things of the child. 12 For now we see through a mirror by reflection, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

Sirach Says, Dont Play with Your Child!

Sir_30:1-14 Brenton He that loveth his son causeth him oft to feel the rod, that he may have joy of him in the end. 2 He that chastiseth his son shall have joy in him, and shall rejoice of him among his acquaintance. 3 He that teacheth his son grieveth the enemy: and before his friends he shall rejoice of him. 4 Though his father die, yet he is as though he were not dead: for he hath left one behind him that is like himself. 5 While he lived, he saw and rejoiced in him: and when he died, he was not sorrowful. 6 He left behind him an avenger against his enemies, and one that shall requite kindness to his friends. 7 He that maketh too much of his son shall bind up his wounds; and his bowels will be troubled at every cry. 8 An horse not broken becometh headstrong: and a child left to himself will be wilful. 9 Cocker thy child, and he shall make thee afraid: play with him, and he will bring thee to heaviness. 10 Laugh not with him, lest thou have sorrow with him, and lest thou gnash thy teeth in the end. 11 Give him no liberty in his youth, and wink not at his follies. 12 Bow down his neck while he is young, and beat him on the sides while he is a child, lest he wax stubborn, and be disobedient unto thee, and so bring sorrow to thine heart. 13 Chastise thy son, and hold him to labour, lest his lewd behaviour be an offence unto thee. 14 Better is the poor, being sound and strong of constitution, than a rich man that is afflicted in his body.

Mat_11:16-17 CAB But to what shall I compare this generation? It is similar to children who sit in the marketplaces and call to their playmates, 17 and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; We mourned to you, and you did not lament.'

Luk_7:28-35 CAB "For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." 29 And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John. 30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God for themselves, because they had not been baptized by him. 31 "Therefore to what shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned for you, and you did not weep.' 33 "For John the Baptist has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.' 34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' 35 And so wisdom is justified by all her children."

Tit_2:2-4 CAB Older men are to be sober, serious, temperate, sound in the faith, in love, in endurance. 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 so that they may urge the young women to be lovers of their husbands, lovers of their children,

1Pe_5:5-7 CAB Likewise, younger people, subject yourselves to the elders. And all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, because "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares about you.

In You Understanding be Men

1Co_14:20 CAB Brothers, do not be children in your understanding; rather, in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

A Horrifying and Unbearable Curse of Evil to Come Upon People

Isa_3:1-5 CAB Behold now, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, will take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the mighty man and mighty woman, the strength of bread, and the strength of water, 2 the great and mighty man, the warrior and the judge, the prophet, the counselor, and the elder, 3 the captain of fifty also, and the honorable counselor, and the wise artificer, and the intelligent hearer. 4 And I will make youths their princes, and mockers shall have dominion over them. 5 And the people shall fall, man upon man, and every man upon his neighbor; the child shall insult the elder man, and the base toward the honorable.

Lam_5:12 CAB Princes were hanged up by their hands; the elders were not honored.

Gen_9:20-25 CAB And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard. 21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunk, and was naked in his house. 22 And Ham the father of Canaan saw the nakedness of his father, and he went out and told his two brothers outside. 23 And Shem and Japheth, having taken a garment, put it on both their backs and went backwards, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their face was backward, and they saw not the nakedness of their father. 24 And Noah recovered from the wine, and knew all that his younger son had done to him. 25 And he said, Cursed be the servant Canaan, a slave shall he be to his brothers.

Gen_31:35 CAB And she said to her father, Be not indignant, Sir; I cannot rise up before you, for it is with me according to the manner of women. Laban searched in all the house, and did not find the images.

Believers of Truth do the Opposite

Rom_13:7 CAB Render therefore to all their dues: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

1Ti_5:1 CAB Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,

1Pe_2:17 CAB Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

A Passage With Source Text Issues

Pro_20:29 CAB Wisdom is an ornament to young men, and gray hairs are the glory of old men.

Pro_20:29 WEB The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.

Righteous Age is Better than Righteous Youth

Youth Need to Come to Jesus to be Valuable

Youth is not inherently valuable, but rather, youth in-and-of itself is vanity, (Ecc_11:10) and has no value apart from pursuing Jesus:

Mar_10:14 MKJV Jesus said to them, Allow the little children to come to Me For of such is the kingdom of God.

And youth is said to have the foolish sins that we are to flee from: Pro_7:7; Jer_3:25; 32:30; 2Ti_2:22

Godly Age Is Greater Than Godly Youth

Although it is often not the case in modern society, older people should actually be leading the way in all zeal, truth, and mighty godliness.

Job_29:8 CAB The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and all the old men stood up.

Consider the profound fact that Job was so exceedingly godly (he had so much value infused in him from righteousness) that even older men rose up for him!

Pro_4:18 CAB But the ways of the righteous shine like light; *they go forth and shine, until the day has fully come [* MT: That shines more and more until the perfect day (WEB)].

Pro_16:31 CAB Old age [MT: Gray hair (WEB)] is a crown of honor [LXX: καυχήσεως rejoicing/ boasting; MT: glory (WEB)], but [δὲ] it is found [MT: attained (WEB)] in the ways of righteousness.

Ecc_7:8 CAB The end of a matter is better than the beginning thereof; the patient is better than the high-minded [ὑψηλὸν πνεύματι those exalted in spirit].

Luk_2:52 CAB And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

Oh, that one day we would finally see people actually increase this way, instead of becoming more treacherous and foolish as they age!

Also see: 2Co_3:18; 1Ti_5:1; 1Pe_5:5

Nearly all church people always assume that age makes them wiser and more godly, no matter how much sin and absurd folly they live in. We say in our heart, we were not sensible at all until we got older, so theres no way that those young zealots could have it any better off or more figured out than we did when we were young and inexperienced

It is clear: Godly age is indeed greater than godly youth, but tragically, most no one has either of these things in church today! May we not forget that spiritual youth is of infinitely greater value than physical age.

May we one day see a day come where youth are made into truth, and where they finally have some faithful gray-headed leaders to perfect them in real wisdom!

Isaac over Ishmael

Jacob over Esau

Joseph over his brothers

Ephraim over Manasseh

Abraham wanted Ishmael to be his main son

(Jacob is the only one here who wanted Joseph exalted, but still did not want his brother bowing down to him)

Joseph wanted Manasseh to be the first born.

Jacob: I might be blind the like my father, but I actually know what Im doing

Gen 48:18 WEB Joseph said to his father, "Not so, my father; for this is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head."

Gen 48:18 CAB And Joseph said to his father, Not so, father; for this is the firstborn; lay your right hand upon his head.

Gen 48:19 His father refused, and said, "I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become a multitude of nations."

Gen 48:19 And he would not, but said, I know it, son, I know it; he also shall be a people, and he shall be exalted, but his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

- I do not intend to tell you exactly what I am looking for, because this spiritual justice is apprehended by faith. (lest some be tempted to imitate forms instead of faith, and confuse everyone)

Chronological Faithfulness vs. Overflowing Zeal

-- Under Construction --

Chronological faithfulness should (by default) arrange you in spiritual supremacy, but the qualitative superiority of overflowing zeal, that legitomately moves God's sentiments on the earth (does justice), is worthy of even higher exaltation.

There are physical things that should give you spiritual primacy

- Mar_8:17 - "do you still not understand"

- Joh_14:9 - "after so long a time do you still not know me Phillip?"

- Heb_5:12 - by the time you ought to be teachers...

- Jesus often preferred the inocent testimony of children above the faith of His apostles
