Explanation

In the Bible they had “letters of commendation”:

(Act_9:26-28); Act_18:26-27; Act_28:20-23; Rom_16:1-2; 1Co_16:3;  1Co_16:10-11; (1Co_16:15-18); 2Co_3:1-3; (2Co_5:12; 2Co_13:6-8); 2Co_8:16-24; Col_4:7-11; (Col_4:13; Tit_3:12); Phm_1:10-21; 3Jo_1:8-10 (compare 2Th_3:4-16)

Although it may seem nearly impossible to reproduce something equivalent to this in our chaotic context of apostasy, I have compiled the closest possible equivalent available in this resource.

Where did these commendations come from?

These are people who kindly emailed replies to various questions that were asked about me at different times. Most all of them have been kicked out of their church and faced hardship for the sake of following Jesus, and the irony is that because of this I have not included many of their names.

In all of my years of schooling, which includes my time spent at the University of Florida, I can truly say that Mr. Scott has been the best teacher I have come across. His standards of integrity ensures that the information that he presents is in complete accordance with what is true and accurate. I have come across many teachers who like to inject their opinions into their lessons. Since such teachers deem it acceptable to present their opinions as facts, in most cases my trust in their ability to give me truth and my desire to learn from them diminishes. From all of the teachings I have sat under from Mr. Scott it is clear to me that he adamantly avoids this deception by only putting value on information he knows to be true. Mr. Scott has thoroughly researched the area of biblical origins, including biblical history, early source texts of the Bible… ( i.e. the Septuagint), and ancient Middle Eastern attire. I have heard him speak on many of these subjects and it is undeniable that he is intensely passionate about these historical details. Moreover, the vast research he has done in this area and in intellectual areas allows him to approach these subjects in a very comprehensive way. Although he admits that he has many things to learn, he has come to many solid conclusions that can greatly benefit anyone who is wanting the facts and is willing to listen.

A teacher is as effective as he or she is willing to instruct.  Josiahs Scott has exhibited patience and endurance in answering questions and diligence when it comes to teaching those willing to receive.  Scott’s creativity in using pictorial depictions and object lessons aid visual learners in understanding biblical facts that are simply unfooled around with.

Scott has many years of research experience along with the ability to read the original Greek language of biblical source texts.  Scott is thereby able to represent significant parsing components in translating and communicating the text.  Although these components are pertinent to accurate translation of any text, this endeavor is treacherously and irresponsibly neglected by translators even of the most popular versions of the Bible. Scott’s respect and devotion in honoring the original text by neither adding nor taking away from its substance is commendable.

Scott’s teaching approach is indeed a rarity.  His presentation of Biblical facts is unencumbered by religious agendas, institutionally based seminaries, culture, personal interpretation, or other possible sources of error and bias. This advantageously grants hearers the seldom, practically unheard of, opportunity to be equipped with what is necessary to either sincerely agree or disagree with the text.

In accordance with Santa Fe College’s mission and values, it would be a service and value to the surrounding community for the rare occasion to receive an instructor of biblical text who is devoted to such honesty and integrity.

I [Persecuted Writer – R] met Mr. Josiahs around 2008 and the impact he has made in my life by teaching and explaining the Bible to me has been extremely significant. I have been religiously attending different churches for most of my life and what Mr. Josiahs taught me within a few years far exceeded all (and even corrected many of the misconceptions) that I learnt from all the pastors I have encountered my whole life.  Mr. Josiahs knowledge of the Septuagint can even be said to be divine, how precise and factual the information that he teaches is. I have applied much of his knowledge even to my own life and have seen drastic improvements and answers to how to view life and interact with people. I have been much more optimistic, hopeful and knowledgeable in my pursuit of truth in the Bible because of what Mr. Josiahs has taught and exhorted me to. Being a student of Mr. Josiahs I have seen that he not only cares about truth and what is factual within the Scriptures but is willing to give of his very being to help others to understand and know this truth as well, and that is why I think he is more than qualified to teach Biblical courses.

I would say that "Josiahs is a man who really loves truth and the things that set people free in life. The minute you leave from being around him you are hungry for more of Jesus and all the promises of God. Josiahs motivates you to become a revolutionary in this world. He has so much wisdom and at the same time he is very approchable and compassionate to all people who have an ear to hear. You would think that a man with such wisdom can cause others to feel quite inferior or intimidated but in fact it is the other way around, especially once you get to know him. He knows how to have true fun and his facial expressions alone are something to laugh about."

I think that Josiahs is a very approachable person. He is very knowledgeable about the truths of the bible and he is very eager to teach others about these truths. Although his teachings are of a very serious nature, he is not too serious so that you feel as if you cannot approach him. He is also not the type of person who will comprise [compromise] the truth in order to gain approval. Whenever we get together for a bible study it is always fun, lively and most importantly Jesus centered. I always have fun even while I am learning life changing lessons.
